"For a beginner, this class was an eye opener. I’ve always been a storyteller but learning how to make my story do much more than just entertain was truly a revelation. I can make people feel emotions, laugh, cry and find comfort in the words I create, but I can also advocate change, help people heal and spread awareness of social vices. I always thought these were only possible in nonfiction writing or in a journalistic sense. It feels empowering to know that I have a voice even as a storyteller. The lessons on plot were also one of the best for me. As a chef I got to see how plot structuring was a lot like cooking. It's a whole lot of mixing, matching and balancing to find the taste that feels just right. Literature rocks! My coach was the best. She allowed me to ask all the questions I had and wasn't too eager to answer everything for me, instead she patiently guided me towards finding the answers for myself. She told me that no two writers were the same and it was okay to sound weird. For someone who's always felt like I didn't belong, those words were everything I needed. I am so grateful that I took the plunge. This class was excellent. "
